NoshWalks
771 West End Avenue, #12-J New York, New York 10025-5539
NoshWalks are two-hour walking tours, held weekends, that focus on the food and cultural history of ethnic neighborhoods in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and, to a lesser extent, the Bronx. Tours to date have covered Sunnyside (Queens), Sunset Park (Brooklyn), Astoria (Queens), Central Harlem and East Harlem (two separate tours), Belmont (Bronx), Borough Park (Brooklyn) and Jackson Heights (Queens). Leader Myra Alperson also publishes a quarterly newsletter, NoshNews, which chronicles the best eateries and markets in neighborhoods around NYC. She has been leading NYC neighborhood tours since 1983 - first as owner of Hungry Pedalers Gourmet Bicycle Tours (1983-90), and then as creator of NoshNews (1999+). Tours aim not just to introduce participants to delicious food but to expose them to the rich neighborhood cultures.
