New York Challenged – The City’s Response to Crisis and Change from Colonial Times to Present

An Example of Teacher Created Technology Integration Using Live Slide Show.

Click on the image to the left to view a quicktime movie created using software entitled Live Slide Show. This was done by scanning a comic strip from The Big Apple Almanac. The strip was broken up into individual panels. The slide show allows students to review the events following Washington's escape to Kips Bay after the Battle of Brooklyn.

The buttons allows navigation through the slide show and with the addition of sound the text can be narrated. Unlike, PowerPoint, Live Slide Show retains all multimedia functionality over the Internet. It can also be streamed.

Using image editing software, such as PhotoShop, the images can be altered to eliminate text and students can create their own storyboard for the battle sequence.
