Teaching NYC History
in K-12 Conference 2003
Teaching New York City History in K-12 Schools Using Primary Sources: A Report on
Our April 28, 2001 Conference
Our recent conference aimed to help teachers integrate primary
documents into their local history or social studies classrooms.
Teachers who had developed successful lessons led workshops
and panel discussions to demonstrate their projects. Cultural
institutions (museums, historical societies, preservationists,
television producers and newspapers) demonstrated cutting
edge videos, web sites, slide and Power-Point presentations,
and lesson plans that can be tailored to classroom curricula.
