Jewish Lower East Side Tour
Southwest corner of Delancey and Essex Streets, in front of the American Choice Deli/Chase Bank.

Since 1991, Big Onion has lead this special Christmas Day outing! Come join us on a very special walk exploring the history and architecture of the Jewish East Side – one of the few Manhattan neighborhoods open on Christmas Day. Come stroll through more than 150 years of Jewish history on the East Side. Our tour combines historic and religious sites, politics and people of what was once the largest Jewish community in the world. Stops could include: the founding site of the B’nai B’rith, the Jewish Daily Forward building, the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue, and sites associated with Rabbi Jacob Joseph, Abraham Cahan, and Lillian Wald. This tour is a Big Onion original – now often copied but never duplicated! Prepayment Optional Many Big Onion customers prefer to pay in advance. Prepayment also helps us determine group size and appropriate guide numbers. To preregister and pay for your tour, click the “Book Now” button below. You will receive an e-mail confirmation and receipt once your order has been processed. If someone in your party is eligible for a senior discount, please use the coupon code “SENIOR” when booking. For our active military discount, please enter “MILITARY”. For full-time student please use coupon code “STUDENT”. Once charged payment is non-refundable unless Big Onion cancels walk for severe weather. If you have questions please email us at PLEASE NOTE: booking a combination of adults with students and seniors has highlighted a flaw in our e-commerce system. Please enter number of adults and select “Traveling with children” to indicate number of discounted persons. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working with our third-party e-commerce provider to develop the system we require.
