Toy Chests

Talking about linoleum reminded me that as a young child (5-10yrs old) I always had a toy chest in my room to keep most of my toys and other sundry items. I believe that in the 1950's that was the style. Most kids had toy chests. How about you? Do they still even sell toy chests? DrSteve

Re: Toy Chests

Dr. Steve glad to have you back. We still have a toy chest in our family room for the Grand kids toys since 1999,just about ready to pass it on to Goodwill. It's made out of a soft  vinyl material.
As kids that was our first item of private ownership!  At the end of the day make sure your toys are back in the toy box!

Re: Toy Chests

My kids(3) each had a toy chest in their rooms. There was 1 left intact in the garage when I moved into my condo. Nobody wanted it, so I gave it away.
Dr Steve--they still have the same style wooden toy boxes @ Toys R Us. I was looking on line for my grandson & they had a nice selection.

Re: Toy Chests

Wow I totally forgot about my toy chest.
most Items within would sell for hundreds of dollars on ebay today
mine was a top loader, didn't hold much
most board games and bigger toys went on top of the closet, where I could never reach them.

Re: Toy Chests

Your right ,Dr. Steve. My kids had a toy chest and it was  in the 50's. At bed-time it was easy cleaning up the mess.
Just open the lid and toss all the toys in.  It kept the room neater. I guess like everthing else , it is now out of fashion..
Remember kids pull-toys??

Re: Toy Chests

I didn't have a toy box per see, but several old cardboard boxes I kept my toys in.

When my teenage daughters had toys we have several plastic storage boxes that fit under the beds.

Foot Locker! Something that your TI or DI would be all too happy to turn over.
