Anyone recall the NYC Playboy Club?

I do. Went there once in the early 80's with a bunch of friends. Lost one of my favorite bracelets in the club that night. All in all had a good time.

In '69 My Bachelor Party started there with around 25 relatives,friends and co-workers. From there we headed down to the W. Village -Your Father's Mustache,ending with a two friends on 81st & 2nd- the Red Onion?

Do you remember a bar on 2nd Avenue named the Salty Dog? I used to hang out there sometimes on Saturday nights.

Kathy85-It was either the Gordian Knot on York & 84th or Dorian's Red Hand. Most of my buddies moved from Manhattan to Astoria,Sunnyside or Woodside-use to frequent the bars on Queens Blvd. in Sunnyside and Woodside.
Okie Doke (sp?) was across the street from where I lived.
Don't recall the Salty Dog,there's a popular Fireman's bar in Bayridge by that name.

I remember the Gordian Knot very well. I was too young at the time to go to bars but I would pass it every day to go to Parker's Grocery Store. Wasn't there a ship's wheel in the window? I think the Gordian Knot had a fire in the late 60's or early 70's and I think it didn't come back after that. I forget what establishment came in it's place. Do you remember Murray Parker? He used to write the price of everything you bought on the brown paper bag with a pencil he always kept behind his ear. He used to smoke big cigars.

Last passing of the Gordian Knot venue,there was a book store. It must have been around '65-'67 that I frequented the place on Saturday nights. The majority of the time I lived in that neighborhood,I was either working,going to school at night,not too mention two years serving Uncle Sam's Army. Didn't know Mr. Parker. Spent a lot of time jockying my cars from one side of the street to another. I remembe C. S. Park,Gracy Mansion the FDNY Harbor Unit w/Heliport on the E. River.
