Cupcake Kid on your block

Growing up in the 1950's, there was always one kid in the crowd who would frequent the corner Grocery store or Deli and come out with a package of cupcakes drinking from a quart bottle of milk!

Re: Cupcake Kid on your block

A...Taystee  Pineapple Pie and a container of chocolate milk.. By the way, speaking of that..I dont know what the situation is in NY, but out here, if you order a CONTAINER of milk, they dont know what that is...that ask you if you mean a carton, and if you order milk, they ask you if you want  WHITE MILK!!.  Doesnt it stand to reason that if someone wanted CHOCOLATE MILK, which is probably 10-15% of the people, they would ORDER Chocolate milk??
And God forbid you want it all in a bag....they ask you.."do you mean a SACK"??  In any case the usual response is  "not a problem"..Please disregard my nose ring, tattoos on my face, my Ubangi earring lobes, and my most current colored wrist band for the "Disease du Jour"

Re: Cupcake Kid on your block

I'm not sure of the connotation of "come out of a deli with" -- paying or lifting?
That would be 2 different topics. I'll stick to the paying side for now. LOL

As a kid it was Ring Dings and a Yogi - YooHoo.
As a young teen I began to follow the lead of a friend who would ask for whole a pepperoni and then have the deli guy thinly slice the whole thing. Great walking around food for the rest of the afternoon, and it was good for sharing with others.
