My most vivid memory of Central Comm. high School was that it had split sessions ! 8am till 1pm and 1pm till 6pm!

The 8am group then had the pick of afternoon part-time jobs in the area.

I went to CCHS in 1955 and 56..........PM Session, worked mornings........

I went to CCHS  from 1946 to 1949  I spent 10th grade in the annex on 44(?) St. and 11 & 12 grade in the 42nd St. School next to the Daily News building.  We were not allowed to read the Daily News.  we could only read the Times. If you were caught with a copy of the News. they took it away .That was before ACLU.

i don't recall any co op program..It just was so full the classes were from 8 to 12 and 1 to 6The younger stidents went 1 to 6 and the older students went 8-12 you did not have a choice.  There was an "annex" on 44th st and 3rd Ave.  which housed female students. I don't remember much about the students.  I only went there for one semester.  It was a really old public school. with big sliding doors between classes  Then I went back to the school on 42nd St.  Remember the Horn and Hardardt on the corner of 3rd ave and 42nd??  They tried to discourage the students from gathering there. You purchased your food (in little brass doors) You ate and they got you out.  NO LOITERING

I remember CCHS fondly. The experience of traveling by subway to high school was great.  I graduated in 1953 and would really like to get the year book from 1953 and 1952.  I attended all my high school years there and in those years I experienced both sessions and also the annex.  I remember while at the annex,. on our lunchtime, myself and 2 friends running up to broadway to see the motorcade for General Eisenhower and then running back to school.

Yes I remember CCHS.. I graduated in 1974 ... Actually the 1974 class was going to be the last graduating class but then they stayed one more year and 1975 was the last class.  Norman Thomas became the new name and moved to 33rd and Park.  Remember D'agastino's was right next door where we would go and buy lunch and the best chocolate milk shakes. There was also a cafeteria on the corner.  Woolworth was in the opposite corner and I believe the Daily News building was nearby.  Now sits a hotel.  I use to play handball with a group by a courtyard nearest the United Nations.

Hi I graduated in 1950.  Would love correspond.  Remember everything you stated. Do you remember the florist shop in the main building. Such happy times.

hi gloriah 1949. I have the same memories that you have . I graduated in 1950 which was the year they celebrated the silver jubilee of the school. 1925 to 1950. I still have the year book which was called the hour glass and a copy of the Centralite newspaperwhich was published periodically.there so many happy memories. please keep in touch.

Hi Rose Corrado.  I do remember a few people I've run across from the 1950's era.  I's not sure if they were class of 1950 but in the 50's.  I'll try to retrace my steps when I was searching.  Facebook is where most of us have crossed paths.  We now have 101 graduates from 1974 in our own "Centralites '74" group.  We are planning our 40th reunion.  Just two days ago 50 alumni had dinner together ..  The pictures are just great.
