I have often read and heard that the area for prostitution and drug activity in the Times Square area ran from the Port Authority to about 50th street before the Times Square cleanup in the 90's. I remember the hotel that is now a Hilton Gardens Hotel, a Days Inn and prior a Ramada Inn (between 48th and 49th street) and often wondered, was prostitution and drugs a problem by this hotel as it was further down by the Port Authority and 42 street? Prior to the buiilding of Worldwide plaza in 1989, that site was an open block long parking lot . Was there prostitution in this section as well? Or was it tamer?
