I was out riding my bike today & ended up in Highland Park. They have moved a lot of stuff around since I was a kid. The basketball courts are off Jamaica Ave. now. The ballfields & handball courts have not been moved. In upper Highland, I found the 'Indian Bridge' looking much the same as it always did. Between the bridge & the Interboro, there is a horseshoe shaped brick structure. There are some steps leading up to the floor of the structure. It has seats on the interior of the horseshoe & at each tip of the horseshoe are square pillars which were once topped by some sort of ornamentation. In the center of the horseshoe is another, larger square. It looks as though it might have been some sort of memorial, but there doesn't appear (to my eye)to be anything which would indicate what it was for. Does anyone have a clue?
