Ruppert Brewery
John M: Thanks for sharing your memories of the brewery! The parade you mentioned goes back to the late 19th Century when Ruppert Brewery workers participated in parades (I have a photo from the 4th of July Parade) with "Father Knickerbocker" (many of them) marching in time...

Family Connections Opperman
Although I'm not related in anyway to the Ruppert family , I once worked for a lady in Cornwall Vermont whose maiden name was Marie Antoinette Opperman--then married later to a Mr. Crovat. She told me that her father was connected to the Ruppert Knickerbocker Brewery. I do know that she--and only child -- lived in Sharon CT when a child with an aunt and uncle after her parents died....Her mother died when she was 9 yrs old and her father when she was 16 yrs old . I remember that she told me that her family lived on Riverside Drive, NYC..unfortunately I wasn't listening closely when she gave me the address and I never did ask her again. She was born in 1898 or 1895 ( quite sure of this date ) and died in 1980 in Vermont. I remember that she had a stein that had an impression ( intaglio?) of her father on the bottom. She and her husband were childless. Just out of curiosity I've often wondered just how her family was connected to the Ruppert Brewery. By the way, when my husband and I were tearing up an old part of our house I found an old, but battered Knickerbock Beer can. I did keep it for awhile but unfortunately it was in terrible condition but I do have a beer bottle opener that says Ruppert on it !!...

Jacob Ruppert Schalk
Hi,
I am Rhinebeck Town Historian and am interested in more information about the family who worked for Mr. Schalk at Linwood.
Sorry I am answering a year late but wonder what the name of "John"'s grandfather was.
Perhaps I could furnish more information if I am given the name.

Jacob Ruppert Schalk
To the Rhinebeck Town Historian: My family still keeps in touch with a family that worked for Jacob Ruppert at Linwood until the early 20th Century, right before JRS took more and more of a leadeship role in its operations. Also, the grandchild of the former superintendent lives in Rhinebeck.

Ruppert children
What children were born between 1910 & 1928? Did George & Pearl have any children? It is very confusing! A listing of Ruppert children and their spouses would be helpful in following this wonderful family!
Thank you for your precious time!

article for breweriana mag
Hi Jake, if you publish a family history of the Ruppert Brewing Co, please consider the National Association Breweriana Advertising (NABA)as a magazine option. please check out www.nababrew.com or email me at accneca@aol.com. NABA is the oldest national breweriana collector hobby group. We would love to feature an article on Ruppert. It is very interesting to know the family connections with other breweries such as the Eichler's. We also like to publish with the article photos of old brewery advertising. We have a lot of New York City collectors who could supplement the article if need be. Regards, Larry Moter, President, NABA
